Editorial gatekeeping. It's not much different to radio compilers deciding playlists, or how a DJ builds a set. Your choices may reflect taste, context, or strategy; just as much as it could be artistry. Any reason is as good as it's bad (curating music is inherently subjective).

However you need to pay from your own pockets. We have alot of independent playlists that's the reason we have unknown songs with over 5 millions streams on Spotify.

All these DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Joox etc) have full data on all music from all genres. First week of the song release, they will use historic data. If you performed really well on your last release, you move up…
